Wharfedale MovieStar 70 Surround Sound Speaker System (Beech) Review
I bought this system two weeks ago and I was very impressed. My initial goal was two huge towers 3 feet in height, Infinity speakers, registration was to replace a lot of space in our living room. I wanted something more discreet, aesthetic, and should work with a home theater sound without the end was also used. This has everything and the best sound! I have a Yamaha RX-V750, which is an exaggeration, but you need to connect paired my phonograph. The surroundSpeakers are the biggest I've seen for a "mini-system in about 6 cm in height and depth, but still small enough to hide on a shelf or mantle place. The Wharfedale's might seem not so fashionable to hide it. I have tried several accommodation and are much better when height of the ear, but still work well if a "Hap Hazard hidden" ways. I ran the range of my collection of music with the Beatles and Beethoven, Nick Cave, The Clash, Chris Isaak, and EvanescenceLed Zeppelin and the system works properly. While listening to a Bose system seemed to be more ups and downs of Wharfdale seems to have a better midrange and have a more accurate sound, particularly noticeable when I play my classical music. I have two DVD player, Spiderman 2 and The Return of the King, and both left smiling throughout, and watched and listened.
One caveat is that these are 4 ohm speakers to ensure that the system can handle. Yamaha is one ofthe few A / V receivers, designed for 4 ohms.
Wharfedale site honors only guarantee that if you buy three approved sites like Amazon. I bought one of the other two and save $ 200!
BTW I have to work a set of 25 years old Wharfdale library in my office that as good as the day I bought them. I am confident that the film Star 70 will last longer.

Wharfedale MovieStar 70 Surround Sound Speaker System (Beech) Overview
Wharfedale’s Moviestar 70 subwoofer-satellite speaker system offers a no-compromise solution for those who seek a small, tidy loudspeaker package, but refuse to tolerate the inadequate sound traditionally found in such systems. The Moviestar 70 combines chic retro styling in a package of loudspeakers with modest dimensions. But despite their diminutive size, these stars of the silver screen pack plenty of punch when it comes to home cinema. Speakers as small as these are made possible by the system’s powered subwoofer, which fills in the bass below about 80 Hz. Further, the subwoofer is still effective when hidden from view.
The package includes all the speakers you need. The four satellites are front-ported, single-way units that dispense with crossovers, which can cause phase and frequency problems in two-way and three-way speakers. The frequency-matched subwoofer has all the features you’d expect of any subwoofer, such as phase and crossover adjustment. All fixings are supplied to allow wall or ceiling mounting, and plenty of cable is included for easy installation.
What’s in the Box
Four satellite speakers, center channel speaker, subwoofer, speaker cable, mounting brackets, user’s manual.

5 times better than Bose, for a fifth of the price… Sweet! – Pidus – Seattle, WA USA
The data is there – + /-3dB 25-25K, and offers. Hooked with OnkyoSR502 and it was amazing. I knew I could achieve more and have so far addicted to OnkyoSR601, and is even better. but only to invest in my music, and am very pleased to departure. I definitely see myself with its persistent and updating of the receiver / CD player. True to their home range average Brit is sweet, without an ear bleeding at all. I am definitely more than worth my moneyhere. This state-of-the-art, when you start talking about the final mission on the highest and Polk and Seamless.
Things to note:
Set cut-off frequency in your receiver to 120 or higher – bookshelf speakers have frequency response 120-25K
They provide audio cable, but I would recommend the use of thicker wires. I went to Monster Cable THX-certified and played a few hundred dollars richer.
Get a nice receiver. The child who can do anything. I noticed a lot of Yamahamentioned in this section, but just get a Yamaha, if you pay a lot of money (close to $ 1000). Yamaha receiver in the sub-500 category are not good, though its upper end, the best things in class, with the Denon and Onkyo.
The bass has the grit, so powerful you will be disappointed if you are low hip-hop/heavy. You might want to connect another subwoofer instead. But, Rock / Classical / Jazz with his being the sweetest of all time.
Bottom Line:would have given five stars, even if sold for a thousand dollars.
PS – if you have any questions, they seem too good.
Real Hi-fi in Surround at a Great Price – Prof David T Wright – Vancouver, BC
Having had systems from bargain-bucket, to $ 25k true audiophile, and Biais for quality and simplicity of this speaker system is a dream.
Realistically the only competition is a similar price Mission (or spend about four times more for less, a little 'beautiful, good, but markets incrediably-fuzzy sound, headache inducing Bose) – no election.
Used with the cheap (not much on TV!) Toshiba V392 VHS / DVD combo, cheap Yamaha Receiver RX-V350S (5×100Watts) (750 total power musical dream, but not necessary), and a good 12 gauge speaker cable. Much better than a movie full of bombastic sound confused!
What / s good: glands quality, reasonable size satellites and a good front and powered 100W subwoofer, attractive / modern look, very musical, movies sound great, high precision and timing and instrument separation, well done, good price , Big Bang for Buck * *. Note the cheaper Wharfedale 60 Movie-Stars-are much lower for no less money …
Nothing wrong, but initially the matched speaker stand seemed easy, but beautiful, and there is the intimidating competition mission speakers or a pair of * real big hi-fi speakers at twice the price (bets: Mission, B & W Monitor Audio or Wharfedale).
Total Wharfedale other winners.
Wharfedale does it again! – – Wisconsin
I wanted a home theater system speakers, which was good with movies and music! I heard 6700 Polk (very good) JBL 160 (beautiful) Energy 5.2 (very nice), Athena (ok +) and Wharfedale Movie Star 70's (awesome)! The biggest difference was the end of the spectrum of music! All these systems have been very good to excellent for film / television, but ranged from good to adequate, so your music! Except for the Wharfedale which were excellent for the use of drama, and awesome music, probably because I'm a bit 'bigger than most! No Tubby lower midrange, or bleeding ear heights thin! Bass was also very well done! A great value and freindly decor.
